Internet and Extranet
Intranet and Extranet are two different types of web applications. Intranet is a private computer network. It can be looked at as a private version of the Internet. Intranet differs from Extranet in the sense that an Intranet is usually restricted to employees of the company or organization. On the other hand, customers, suppliers or any other approved party, along with employees, can access Extranets. An Intranet does not necessarily have to provide access to the Internet. Usually, when access is provided, it is usually accessed through a network gateway and firewall. This allows the intranet to be shielded from unauthorized external access while also allowing more control over the employees Internet access. Both of these types of websites are great tools for companies.
